AN EXPERIENCE IN EDUCATIONAL INNOVATION. PROJECT-BASED LEARNING IN THE FRAMEWORK OF PHYSICAL EDUCATION IN 1ST BACCALAUREATE

Abstract

This article describes an experience in educational innovation on the implementation of a Project-Based Learning methodology in the area of Physical Education,with the students of first year Baccalaurate of the IES High School Conde DiegoPorcelos from Burgos, during the school year 2018 /19. Four experimental groups areestablished, which implement the ABP methodology, and a control group, which follows the traditional methodology. A frequency analysis of academic results obtainedby groups is carried out, as well as the experimental groups combined with respectto the control group. The study is completed with the most important descriptivestatistics. The comparisons of the academic results at the end of the course show thatthe difference in the average scores of the experimental groups with respect to thecontrol group is more than one point, better for experimental groups, which atteststo the efficiency of the ABP in the framework of the contents worked on in the EFBaccalaureate level, notwithstanding the great validity of traditional methods in othercontexts and moments of application. This active and cooperative methodology thatcharacterize the ABP, not only entails an improvement of academic results, but alsoof stability in the consolidation of learning and improvement of other personal skillssuch as social and communicative ones.
